Hey, groovy freedomist. Ain’t gonna mince words, here. This is one lame update. Mrs. Groovy and I had too little time this week—what with the demands of my opus and our house—to write a proper post. So all I have to report is this:
One: We paid Terry another $50,000 this past Friday. This brings the cost of Groovy Ranch up to $137,993.90. That’s fairly close to the halfway mark. I figure we have about $150,000 to go.
Two: The exterior siding is complete and the primer has been applied. We’re going with a classic white farmhouse. Painting should be done by Friday.
Okay, groovy freedomist, that’s all I got. Did I tell you this was one lame update? Hope all is well on your end. Peace.
Please post the Location and Blueprints of the Groovy”Barn” that will go with the “Farmhouse”!
Haha! I wish I could. We just told our builder we wanted a 24×28 garage and he put the plans together on a napkin. In fact, he built before he got a permit for it. No worries, though. He just got a permit for last week. I guess it pays to have a decades-long relationship with the building department. But I see your point. I’ll do an update devoted solely to the garage as soon as the garage is complete. Have a great weekend, my friend.
Looking good!
– Looks like 2 eyes and a nose on the fireplace side – needs a smile 🙂
Haha! I was looking at it the other day and came to the same revelation.
looking good.
have you ever seen the UK tv show Grand Designs?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_Designs
it’s a bit of car crash TV with everyone messing up in one way or the other – I hope it works out better for you!
Yes, I love that show. I think my favorite episode was the lad who built a container home in Ireland.
You guys are moving right along! Nice work. We recently kabashed our plans and now are selling the lot. Consider it a simplifying life sort of move.
Yes, Mrs. G told me about your new plans. I’m all for it, especially if you relocate to Nashville. We need more honorary southerners of your caliber.
Honorary Southerns Unite!
Ha ha…and maybe I can join you both in retirement! Yeah the lot is for sale. I have put in like $50k up to this point in design and permitting, but it will be worth every dollar to move with this chapter closed.
See you guys soon!
Nice work 🙂
Thank you.
You are in the true DIY spirit.
Have you ever tried to make this into one page with like a table of contents? I feel like I have missed the middle parts haha. Off to give you pageviews for those right now^.^
Thanks for reminding me, Olivia. We have a page dedicated to our Groovy Ranch updates, but I haven’t updated it in a while. I’m taking care of that oversight now.
You guys are making this look easy, that’s all I got.

I know. We really lucked out with our builder. Terry and his team just do solid work. Mrs. G and I haven’t had a fight in months.
It’s really coming together. Nice.
Thanks, Joe. Floors will be going in this Saturday. As Mrs. G would say, “This sh%t is getting real.”
Progress comes at many paces. Prioritizing the ranch’s construction over a full blog post might be prudent. Good luck on continuing your construction!
Agreed. There’s only so many hours in a day. Right now the house takes precedence over the blog.
Short, but better than me. We travel a lot in August and September and I haven’t got anything posted at all. I do love reading my favorites blogs though, even if they are short. Cheers!
More traveling, less blogging. Sounds good to me.
Looking good! A short comment for a short post. ;o)
Thank you, Mrs. WoW. I wear brevity well.
Your house is looking great. I predict a lot of time spent on the screen porch.
Mrs. Groovy really pushed for the screen porch. She has tremendous instincts.
Lame. Just kidding. The house looks great. Enjoy the process!!!
LOL! Agreed. Lame post, great house.
Looking awesome!!
We were a little scared about the all-white farmhouse. We thought it looked great in pictures, but were a little concerned about how it would look in real life. Not anymore.
Well, we only doubted it because Terry questioned it. And his wife gave him hell for it. THEY have an all white house!
