Well, it’s been a while since my last Becky Sue update. And that’s not for a lack of progress. I’ve pretty much maintained my goal of welding at least five sections of re-bar a day throughout this whole freakin’ summer. It’s just that after a day of welding, honing my awesome physique, and attending to Mrs. Groovy’s never-ending honey-do list, I have absolutely no desire to turn on my laptop.
But yesterday I gave the finger to the productivity gods and proclaimed a day of sloth. And I gloriously fulfilled that proclamation. I basically did nothing all day but veg out on the couch and watch inane YouTube videos. Oh, and I wrote this lame-ass Becky Sue update. Here’s what’s been done since July 10th—the date of my last update:
- I’ve completed Becky Sue’s left front leg. All I got to do with the left front leg now is weld it to its footing and then bolt that footing to the cart.
- I’ve completed Becky Sue’s trunk, on both the left side and the right side.
- Finally, I’ve completed Becky Sue’s left horn.
All told, Becky Sue is currently comprised of about 500 linear feet of re-bar. I figure I’ll need another 100 linear feet of re-bar to complete the scaffolding. Here are some pictures of my progress:

Okay, groovy freedomist, that’s all I got. Let me know what you think of Becky Sue when you get a chance. Peace.
