The big news this week is that the framing on Groovy Ranch has begun in earnest. Check out the picture below.

The second big news is that window and door decisions had to be made and Mrs. Groovy and I were on the exact same page. Here’s what we decided.
Windows: For the windows, we decided to go with what our plan called for (see snippet from our plans below). Double-hung, with one grid divider between the glass on the top sash and no grid dividers between the glass on the bottom sash. This is the modern farmhouse look and we like that simplicity.
Exterior doors: For the exterior doors, we decided to forego the 8-foot doors our plan called for and go with the normal six-foot, eight-inch doors. To make the top of the front exterior door align with the top of the front windows, we decided to add a transom window.

The third big news is that Mrs. Groovy met one of our neighbors. Yep, Mrs. Groovy checked out a hair salon in Louisburg, and Tammy, the woman who cut her hair, turned out to be the mom of the family that lives just beyond the trees that line the back of our property. Man, I knew Louisburg was small. But I didn’t know it was Mayberry small. The good news is that Tammy appears to be a very nice person and she’s already invited us to her Halloween Party. Things just get better and better in Groovyland. [Mrs. Groovy here. Coincidentally, Tammy’s husband knows our builder, Terry. And he works as a handy man, which may come in…er…handy.]
Final Thoughts
Okay, groovy freedomist, that’s all I got. Sorry about another week of no fighting. Believe me, we’re trying. But after 16 years of marriage, it appears our taste in design has finally melded into one. Pathetic.
Oh, shoot, I almost forgot. Mrs. Groovy and I appeared on a Countdown to FI roundtable with Mr. and Mrs. WoW, Mr. and Mrs. MSF, and, of course, Mr. and Mrs. CTF. Check it out. It’s a stone groove.
