People Are Starting to Figure It Out

I came across the following article in my Google feed yesterday:

UN declares transatlantic slave trade a crime against humanity, demands reparations

Oh, boy. Who doesn’t love a futile display of conspicuous virtue-signaling. Were the Trans-Saharan Slave Trade and the Barbary Slave Trade also crimes against humanity? Or is it just the Transatlantic Slave Trade that rises to that fiendish level?

And of course. This “news” article didn’t disappoint. The UN couldn’t care less about the victims of Arab slavers. It only cares about the victims of European slavers.

Classic woke revenge tyranny. Take a crime or offense that everyone is guilty of but only prosecute the villains you don’t like.

The good news is that people are starting to figure things out. Here are a handful of the responses to the UN’s selective outrage:

“Like “Climate Change” this is just another political cash grab wrapped up in feigned moral outrage. If the UN is serious about justice, it must address all slave systems—not just the one that fits a modern political narrative. The transatlantic trade was evil, but it wasn’t the only one. African kingdoms captured and sold other Africans, the Arab slave trade lasted over a thousand years, and slavery still exists in multiple countries today. Selective outrage isn’t justice—it’s politics.”

“I wonder why he only lists Europe and the US as perpetrators of the slave trade, when more slaves went to South America than the US.”

“The transatlantic slave trade was a tiny fraction of total slave trade. Sounds like deep-pocket seeking ne’er-do-wells disguised as diplomats.”

“Africa sold slaves. Still do. It wasn’t a one way road, and it was the countries that comprise most of the U.N. that brought them to America after the slaves were sold to them. That said, where are the reparations for all slaves in all of history. The [word] itself means Slavs….white slaves. How about the Spaniards who enslaved the Mayans. Where are the reparations for the Irish slaves…”

“In economic terms, the supplier is blaming the distributors and the customers, for purchasing what they were literally selling at the time.  200 years from now, OPEC will be asking the UN for reparations for climate change, blaming the countries who import oil today.”
